So im in Chang Mai, Thailand, my new home for the month! Its so amazing here. We’re living at the Lighthouse, which is a ministry that we’re working with here. After the most amazing bus ride ever (after african buses, riding with chickens and more people than seats, anything would seem good) but really it was amazing. There was leg room, free food, blankets that smelled like dryer sheets, massaging chairs… i actually felt rested when we got here. Anyways we got here this morning, rested and then went into town. We got to see some of the city, go to the market, and meet with our new contact. I love Thailand! everything about this place makes my pulse buzz- the cars, the beautiful people, the food, the energy, the buildings- did i mention they have paved roads with LINES?! I cant get over how stinkin adorable the kids here are!
Ok so we found out today what our ministrys going to look like and I AM PUMPED!
During the day we’re going to be working in a christian coffee shop here called Wongen Cafe. Ive never worked at a coffee shop, but taking the 2 things i love dearly (God and coffee) and combining them seems like a marvelous idea. Its a super chill place with bean bags and cool music, i cant believe i get to work there! and tell people about Jesus while i do it!
THEN in the evenings we’re going to be alternating between praying/prayer walks and going into the red light district and developing relationships with prostitutes and gays and lesbians. We’ll be going into the local bars and clubs, hanging out, playing pool (no drinking though) and talking to the girls. Our goal is to develop at least 1 relationship with someone, and hopefully impact their lives. We’re going to be combining the 2 ministries by inviting the people we meet to get togethers at the coffee shop. brilliant right?
We also are going to be spending some of our time during the day eating thai food at the university across the street. ok not just eating, although the food here is AWESOME, we’re going to be helping the students practice English, and hopefully sharing our faith!
Did i mention IM EXCITED?! Oh my, God use me!
