Whew it’s hot here in Thailand, I think it may even beat Australia which I never thought possible! I am loving village life and am learning a lot from the unique way the villagers work hard, love fiercely, and take needed time to relax and enjoy one another. Here’s an overview on what a typical day looks like.

I wake up in the morning around 5:30 to the sound of a dog barking, (annoying!) roosters crowing, and kids outside my window. I have the morning free until 10:00 which is when my team meets for devotions, and intercessory prayer over the village.
Mom spends all day cooking for us and the food is delicous! We get to eat sticky rice and garlic chicken almost daily! We eat in a little bamboo hut outside, sitting cross legged, and eating with our fingers. I love it. This hut is also mom and dads “bedroom” and they sleep out here every night.
In the afternoons, Ellen and I teach an English Class. I love this part of my day and will probably write my next blog explaining more about our classes. After class, I spend an hour with God, praying over the village. Between all the girls on my team, we have the village covered in prayer for
ten hours every day.
Next comes my favorite part of the day, we head down to “the field” where all the children and some of the parents in the village meet to play soccer and volleyball. I love playing soccer with the little boys so I either play with them or opt out of the games and play with the younger children. This field is also the home of a couple water buffalo so occasionally they join us for the games as well.

After dinner, we are done for the day. We cool off by taking bucket showers and it is not uncommon to find a poisenous creature in our bathroom. Katie killed a scorpion for us the other day and we have had 3 poisenous centipedes invade our sleeping/bathroom space. The first one refused to die and I had to cut his head off with a knife. I am getting so brave!
