We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this missions trip. Here is what I am expecting …
I expect God to work in unexpected ways as I trust in Him to provide financially for this trip
I expect to miss the physical comforts of home but to be better off without them and all the many distractions they can bring
I expect to be challenged physically (I really need to start working on getting in shape!)
I expect to fall in love with each country and the people that live there
I expect to have a stronger understanding of the power of prayer
I expect to fall deeper in love with God through the beauty of His creation in all these new places I travel to
I hope that I will experience God in unimaginable ways
I hope to be broken and built back up to better reflect God in the things I say, think, and in the way I live my life
I expect to feel more alive next year than I ever have before
I expect to secretly enjoy being dirty and in need of a shower
I expect to develop a deeper passion for the hurting and the lost
I expect to leave a piece of my heart in every country that we visit
I expect to grow close to my team and to make friendships that will last a lifetime
I expect to get tired of wearing the same couple outfits for an entire year
I expect to miss my friends, family, church, and accountability partner (Meghan – here’s a shout out to YOU!) immensely
I expect that when I return home, I may no longer understand the way of life in America and that my loved ones may no longer understand me
I expect to be downright miserable sometimes dealing with physical and emotional exhaustion, bugs and the climate.
I expect to not like much of the food and to strongly miss coffee, cherry coke and junk food 🙂
I expect to get incredibly homesick at times
I expect to experience God and fall deeper in love with Him
I expect to love living in close community but crave my alone time
I expect to cry alot, laugh alot, hug alot, and learn alot
I expect to be forever changed by this experience
I expect God to blow my expectations out of the water and possibly even change them as I prepare to embark on this journey
