Last Friday night's Rock & Roll For The World Race was a roaring success, not to mention genuinely one of the most fun experiences I have had throughout college. It was just a tremendous amount of fun. It was everything you'd want a good rock show to have: talented musicians (check out The Maplewaves and The Bear Klaw), a nice set list, a dancing sing-along crowd, and a full on thrash and mosh/dust pit to close out the night.

My good friend Ashlee Wheeler volunteered to be my bouncer and she estimates that around 50-60 people showed up. Maplewaves opened up the night and the Bear Klaw was to follow, but in my opinion the night really got going when we were able to play some of our favorite songs. I would say Kids by MGMT, Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, and All These Things That I've Done by The Killers were my personal favorites of the night.

What is most astounding though is that with just a $3 minimum donation charge, I was able to raise $707.10. I was expecting maybe $200, $300 at most, but I was completely overwhelmed with how exceedingly generous the crowd was. It was most definitely a fish & loaves kind of a situation and I am super thankful for how God compelled people to give. It was awesome to kick-off my support raising with a show like this!

The set up in the barn.

This is more than your average Adidas Sambas box. This is the official custom-designed Sarah Graley World Race donation box. Expect to see it at future events.

The Maplewaves started the night off with some Fleet-Foxes esque tunes. So much talent here.

This barn provided the coolest atmosphere for the show.

Eric & I finally getting around to playing one of our favorite songs "Poison & Wine" by The Civil Wars.

Getting set to rock here.

As evidenced by this picture, a mosh pit emerged on the always rowdy "Four Kicks" and dust from the floor was everywhere.

Props to Luke for bringing feathers, they were a nice touch.

Excellent night! A HUGE thanks to everyone who came, who gave, and who rocked with us!
