In Sunday School, we have been studying the Gospel of John.  We recently talked about some of the first miracles that Jesus performed, such as water into wine.  It seems that miracles do not take place in our modern day as they did when Jesus walked on Earth.  Unexplainable healings in the medical field tend to be considered the only modern day miracles.

Although I believe those events are amazing miracles, I also believe that miracles are happening all the time in so many ways.  Webster Dictionary defines a miracle as an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs or an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment.

According to this definition, a miracle has to be something that doesn’t typically happen in a regular day.  But I think that we take everyday miracles for granted.  Just having the sun rise and set each day should be considered a miracle.  Yes, this is part of a typical day, but if you’ve ever watched a sunrise or sunset, the beauty of all those colors melted together and stretched across the sky is “extraordinary” and “extremely outstanding”!  The overall beauty of creation and all the details that create the scenes we see each day are miracles in themselves.

To me, creation is one of the many ways God displays or allows us to see or feel His presence in our lives.  I just hope that I will never lose sight of God’s glory and power.
