I wanted to tell you a little of our experiences so far in Phnom PenhFirst of all the people here in Cambodia are so friendly.  Everywhere we walk there are children smiling, waving and yelling hello.  Most of them will even run up to us for a hug or a slap me five.  Many adults know English and are eager to start a conversation with you.

Most of the roads are bumpy, muddy and full of potholes.  Traffic lights and stop signs are more of a suggestion then a rule here.  Pretty much everyone drives or rides on a motorcycle to get around.  We are now taking bets on what we will see people carrying next while on one of these bikes.

So far we have seen a mattress, keyboards, guitars, chickens, huge bundles, large amounts of vegetables and fruit.

I am betting we will see a TV or aquarium on one soon.  As many as five people can ride on one motorcycle.  You have to see it to believe it.  It is quite an experience trying to cross the road.  Basically you just walk into the middle of a busy intersection and pray that the very fast moving motorcycles, tuk-tuks and cars go around you.  And the funny thing is they do!  We have been warned never to step back as that will cause someone to run into you.  Do you know how hard it is not to do that?

The weather is very hot and sunny.  Most nights we have been here it has rained pretty hard which makes walking to the church building quite a muddy experience.  New Life Fellowship Church is awesome!  They really made an effort to make us feel welcome.  Before the service we were handed a head set so that we could listen to the sermon in English while the Pastor spoke in Kumar.  They started off with some worship music and had a screen with both English and Kumar on it.  It was so nice because we actually knew the songs.  Their worship band is full of life and everyone down front was dancing.  It was such a joy to be around so many Christians that are clearly on fire for God.  It was a great evening.

We have all plunged into a bunch of different ministries.  I will be teaching 2-4 year olds with Jackie every morning during the week.  Most of the children know a little English and they come to this private school to become fluent in it.  We get to teach them their ABCs, sing songs with them, teach them about days of the week, months of the year, play games with them etc.  I love it!  Tonight we are helping out with the youth group as well.  My other teammates are doing many other cool things like teaching adult English classes, doing medical ministry, working with the media team etc.

We feel so blessed to be here!

Here is a little video of my teammates crossing the street.
