So you think I’m kidding?
Well let me tell you about my near-death experience but first I need to give you a little background info….
In a surprising twist of events, last night the wonderful AIM staff announced we’d be going on an African Safari today.
You should have heard the cries of excitement!
It was such a blessing to have a break from all of our training and get the chance to witness so much of God’s beauty in the wilderness.
I was in 1 of the 4 land rovers that took us all over the NdLoVU Camp.
We saw wart-hogs, giraffe, elephants and their babies (my personal favorite).
We saw a male lion lying in all his glory and surrounded by 4 lionesses.
Wow!
And then there were the Rhinoceros.
The rhinos we saw were quite big with long pointy horns, and square mouths (the facial structure differs in other parts of the world).
They were a little ways away when our guide stopped so we could watch them.
To our surprise they came closer and we click, clicked away our cameras.
They got closer, and closer, and then they charged.
Did you catch that?
They came right for us.
Did I mention that we were in a land rover that has no windows and our guide had just rolled up the netting on either side of the vehicle.
It was scary but actually pretty cool.
They charged, got scared when we screamed (yes that includes the boys), and ran in the opposite direction.
What excitement!
When we got back this afternoon we had some unexpected free time so walked into town to the internet café.
What a blessing!
I think we’re all a little starved to get on and write to you all and hear from everyone we love.
Thank you all for comments and words of encouragement as they have greatly blessed my heart.
The rest of this week we’ll continue to have training which usually goes from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm with breaks for meals and free time dispersed throughout.
We’ve been learning skits, had classes on safety, lessons on teaching children about the Bible, how to give a sermon, learning how to cook, etc.
Pretty much anything you can possibly think we’d need, we’re learning.
We will be really well prepared!
Our team hasn’t learned what our plans are yet but I will keep you posted about going into the field.
For now we’re praying that God’s hand is leading our ministry.
Much love!
Sarah
