China’s Influence
China, as we know, is a large and powerful country. They have wide reaching influence in matters of technology, politics and global security. I have lived in a small city near the middle of the country and been unable to escape the impact. China, the country and the society, has made me thankful for the slight, but huge, differences in our countries.
The US of A:
1. Freedom of religion
2. The number of churches to choose from
3. Western toilets
4. Variety and diversity of ethnic restaurants
5. Big washing machines
6. DRYERS
7. Common utensils: fork, spoon and knife
8. Clean water from the tap
9. Smoking bans
10. Pollution regulation
11. high-quality construction
12. American hotel cleanliness
13. Population diversity
14. Coffee selection at grocery store
15. Clean rivers
16. paved roads! we don’t have to wear masks to protect our lungs from dust inhalation
17. clean stores in which to buy clothes (that are not sold dirt-street side covered in dust)
18. starring is deemed inappropriate
19. plush hotel towels
20. desserts that are actually sweet…maybe even Chocolate!
Clearly not an extensive list, these are just a few things I found myself counting as blessings while I was in China last month. I did get to celebrate a Thanksgiving here in the Philippines, but I wrote a full blog to document my thoughts and feelings on that day.
It might be cliche but, “God Bless America,” is not only a request and popular prayer, it is a truth and praise. Thank you God for the abundant blessings we have as American Citizens.
