Spiritual Gifts are much more varied than I realized. A bit naive, I had a limited understanding of the types of gifts that can be categorized as spiritual. I thought it was only tongues, prophecy and healings. I have read and come to understand that gifts are blessings from the Lord. There are several specific gifts outlined in the Scripture, and many more natural, learned, and inherited talents that can be intentionally used to enrich worship, expand ministry and enhance understanding.
My Spiritual Gifts are:
1. Hospitality
2. Administration and Guidance
3. Leadership
4. Teaching
5. Missionary

To borrow from the literature after the test, the most important thing is not to pride ourselves over our gifts. It is not to become conceeded and jealous about gifts. The primary benefit of gifts is that we learn where we are most talented and utilize that to Love, Worship and Serve the Kingdom of God. Although my experience and familiarity with spiritual gifts was quite limited until I joined AIM, I am now enjoying the opporutnity to read, question and discuss with this WR community.
Hospitality:
ability and desire to open one’s home and life for strangers; provide love through food, shelter and community; creates inviting atmosphere where others feel safe in unfamiliar situations
…though you wouldn’t know it; I made sure there were enough slices & plates for everyone!
Admin:
create order, develop strategies, plan and coordinate effective and efficient processes
Organized, Planned and Following Through with VISA permits
Leadership:
ability to see big picture; create goals and motivate people to work towards the final vision; communicate effectively; recognize and encourage talents in others be utilized for full potential
Team Charis leadership has been fun, frustrating and fabulous. I’ve learned A LOT about leadership!
After taking the test and finding out the results I have to admit I am not surprised; rather I think I found comfort in knowing that what I consider to be my talents, seem to be my talents. The test didn’t tell me I had to learn tongues! It did not say that I have failed until I heal the sick. It told me-“you’ve got it, use it!” The fact that the first three are hospitality, admin and leadership affirmed my desire for further responsibility (whether with the WR squad, at an Italian bed and breakfast, or as a Continued Education and Volunturism promotor).
