One of the common phrases in SE Asia is, “I’ll see you when you see me. We first heard it in Thailand and then again in Cambodia. Goodbyes are hard to do…

As we finished our work in Cambodia, we were sad to leave the students we had grown to love…!

Sothiya…

…was one of the first people we met. She has such a sweet spirit and was immensely helpful in translating for us, helping us at the market, and teaching us about Khmer culture. She and her sister, Somaly, are the only Christians in their family. Her parents allowed them to choose for themselves what they wanted to believe even though they themselves didn’t have the same views.

Chan…

…came to faith because of his mother’s testimony. She had a severe sickness and sought care from witch doctors. However, every remedy they gave her didn’t help. She had heard about a Christian church in the area and was told they could help her. So, she went one day, they prayed for her, and she was completely healed of her sickness! As a result, Chan and one of his siblings came to faith in Christ, too. His goal is one day be a pastor.

Menghem…

…was always somewhere singing on his guitar, often Chris Thomlin songs…! He spent a lot of his youth partying and living immorally. As soon as he came to Christ, he changed his ways and his life was transformed! Most of his family still doesn’t believe in Christ. His goal is to one day be a missionary in South Africa.

The prayers of these students and interns are filled with requests that family and friends would come to know Christ personally. Just as their own lives have been transformed in a positive way by Christ, they desire for friends, family, and, in fact, all Cambodians would come to know Christ!

So…. Even though I may never see my dear brothers and sisters again on this side of heave, I know I will see them again because they know Jesus. So, I can confidently say, “I’ll see you when you see me.”
