Imagine growing up in a very poor family that often barely had enough money to feed you once a day.
Imagine at the age of five, having to sit on the side of the road with a bushel of bananas to sell, knowing that if you don’t make enough pesos your family will go hungry.
Imagine living in a house without windows, a house that would be condemned in the United States, a house that would be used as a chicken coop, or a shed.
Imagine a life of luxury.
Imagine a life full of beautiful mansions, extravagant clothes, sports cars, and intricate delicacies of food.
Imagine never having to work a day in your life, knowing that your father’s fortune will always be there for you.
Imagine having nothing, and yet in having nothing, possessing everything.
Imagine waking up each morning with a smile on your face and a song in your heart, knowing you are loved and you will be provided for.
Imagine sleeping on the dirt, homeless, yet being completely at peace with your situation, and full of love and compassion towards others.
Imagine a God that loves every single person on this earth.
A God that specifically placed each person in the area, nationality, and family they come from.
A God that doesn’t care about whether you sleep in the dirt, or whether you sleep on the most extravagant bed fit for a king.
A God that loves each of his children exactly the same, whether they have nothing, or all the riches in the world.
Imagine a time when everyone in the world could open their eyes and realize this.
There is a saying from a movie that a person very dear to my heart often quotes to me, and that is that “life isn’t about how many breathes you take, it’s about the moments that take your breathe away.”
Imagine living like this.
Not worrying so much about what the person behind or beside you thinks, but knowing that your life, whether extravagantly full of riches, or the poorest of the poor is the exact life God placed you in.
Imagine being completely content with what you have and with your life, whatever your circumstances may be, in every moment.
Imagine knowing deep inside that there is so much more to life than whether we possess everything or nothing.
They say that the imagination unlocks the door to reality.
Can you imagine?
