As I write this I am sitting in my hotel room in Salt Lake City, Utah.

My flight leaves in just a few hours, and although I am so excited for the adventure that is awaiting me, I am a little sad about leaving my friends and family for a year.

I am so thankful that I was able to spend my birthday here, as I share it with my best friend in the whole world Adam.

We have spent our birthdays together for the past 4 years, and this year we were able to go snowboarding, snowmobiling, and catch an ultimate fighting match.

It was definitely one that will be engraved in my memory for years to come. If I could hide anyone in my suitcase and take them with me, it would be Adam.

This year the whole family was able to be together for Christmas.

We had a great time together.

Every Christmas Eve we have an annual oyster stew and shrimp dip, followed by rice pudding, which is a tradition brought to our family by an exchange student from Denmark.

I had so much fun hanging out with my family one last time before I leave.

We had a great time snowboarding, snowmobiling, racing go-karts, and playing the annual family games.

Even my niece who is just one and a half participated in the annual ski trip.

As I prepare to leave, I just want to say THANK YOU again to everyone who is praying for me and for all the support!

I am so excited for this coming year and I hope you all will follow me along the journey.

Please check in regularly to read my blogs, view my pictures, and see the ways God is changing me, and those I come in contact with.
