Hey there!!
My name is Sarah Brooks, you probably know this, since you are here reading this 🙂 But anyways! This is for me to explain who I am, which is a lot! My streets are in Lubbock, Tx. I have lived here my ENTIRE life, I am about to graduate from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s in Economics!!! What!! Graduation is in 4 months!! On August 8th, which will be the best day ever so far!! My favorite color is all of them, I have never been able to choose just one. I always prefer at least one cup of Chai Tea Latte in the mornings. Creme cheese pound cake and chocolate chip cookies will always and forever more be my favorite foods. And above all else, I LOVE JESUS!
I want this to explain not only who I am, and where I came from, but why I am here. I have always grown up in the church, with my awesome family (who we will get to in a minute), and have always known that I was saved by Christ. I grew up thinking that all I had to offer were my “own” abilities and not me knowing it is God and only God who gives me these abilities. On the outside I would show thankfulness for what he gave me, but on the inside was still prideful and believed it was me, not him.
Let’s just say that whole pride thing was demolished in more ways than one. My life is FOR GOD and ONLY FOR GOD. No matter my accomplishments or my work ethic, or anything of the world. None of it matters if it is not for God.
After learning about what The World Race was, it was put heavy on my heart to apply and just trust. I had begun worrying about what I was supposed to do after graduation (because what college student doesn’t worry about that). So, I applied. I filled out all the question pouring out my heart with what my life was and is. I got the call, and was beyond excited. I have no idea what to expect on this race, but all I know is it is exactly where God wants me to be, and that is all I need. Because he has a plan for me, and although I do not know what it is yet, I am here to trust, be thankful and enjoy this crazy ride!
Now for my family!! I am soooooo thankful that God gave me the family that he did. Although there were struggles, my family is the greatest gift I have ever received. My parents are as supportive as ever, even when I tell them I will be traveling the world with a pack on my back and with people I have never met. They are the coolest! My sister is the pretty great too, she is my big sister so of course she has always been who I have looked up too since I was a kid. She just recently got married which is just the coolest! So now I have an awesome big brother, which is new, but totally awesome!!
