I am in the middle of training camp outside of Atlanta. I have been pleasantly surprised by the experience so far, even amidst the 90 degree temps and humidity. There are close to 200 of us World Racers, gearing up to leave on the September and October race. I would’ve thought by now that many of the questions I came to camp with would’ve been answered, but I am realizing and have learned that expectations aren’t to be had on this trip. Even with all the questions I have, I still feel as though I am being well prepared for what lies ahead. As the days have passed, I have almost forgotten where I am…in Georgia. Everyday we have been introduced to a different part of the world we will be traveling to. We have enjoyed culinary experiences from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and India. We have to adhere to customs of the land, as in using our utensils with our left hand, eating with chopsticks or even licking the plate clean. For a picky eater like me, this was easier said than done.
It has been LONG days and I can’t believe there is much more to come. I imagine every racer comes away with different experiences and memories from training camp, but for me (so far) Training Camp means: new friends, incredible worship, camping out under the stars, a cabin with AC, laughter, freedom, stinky feet, feeling hot and sweaty, popsicle treats, interesting meals, prayer, dance-offs, red dirt, early mornings, late nights, little sleep, questions, trust, thunderstorms, testimonies, banana boats, ice breakers, squatty potties, swimming in the lake, community, canoes, swiss chocolate, and feeling incredibly sore. All that and I still have 3 more days to go!
I have to sign off for now, as I would love to get some shut eye. I need all the help I can get, so that I am ready for our early morning workout. Love my new Q Squad! Let the Adventures begin:)
