This was not an ordinary day. I was expecting to meet broken women who were searching to find something to hold on to. Instead I found women filled with strength and determination to change their life. These women’s stories left my jaw on the ground and my skin covered with goose bumps. For many of them this will be their first sober Christmas. Addictions to alcohol and drugs have left some of these ladies numb to the world covering up emotional scars cut from abuse of all forms. They have lost loved ones and have been abandoned by the ones they trusted. All of these women have a new hope for the future knowing that they now have a community that can hold them accountable and want to see them succeed. While praying over these ladies you could feel the Holy Spirit drenching the room. It was an amazing experience. Afterwards, when they were praying over us, I forgot where I was for a brief moment. They were beyond sincere in their prayers and good wishes for us. Despite their pain and once broken identity, I left the house feeling encouraged by the new hope they had come to embrace.
