In every country that we travel to each team is assigned a contact. Contacts are not required to go above and beyond; in fact they are not even obligated to be with us at all during our month stay. As long as they guide us to where we need to be they have fulfilled their duty.

Our contact, Pastor Ben is more then we could have ever dreamed of. He is truly a man of God with a jaw dropping testimony. He has spoiled us with our living accommodations, the time he invests in us and the activities he makes possible for us to partake in. Every Monday-Wednesday we have an extremely intense Bible study that has been known to last forever. He doesn’t belittle any of our questions and truly challenges us in our faith.

One venture that Pastor Ben has made available to us was scuba diving. His good friend Pastor Jordan runs a scuba shop out of his home for his main source of income because he does not receive any financial earnings from the orphanage he pours his heart into. Because Pastor Ben is also scuba certified he often times helps Jordan take out clients. Since we are working with Pastor Ben this month we were able to go scuba diving for a quarter of the cost. I immediately knew this was something I wanted to do. How often do you have the opportunity to go scuba diving in an inverted volcano?

The day finally came and we were to go in groups of three, so I went with my teammates Alana and Angie. We eagerly sat through the lesson on how to assemble everything and all the other information you must know before you actually go in the water. We thought that scuba diving would be the most challenging part of the day. WRONG!!! Putting on the wet suits was. I can’t remember a time I had laughed that hard seeing my teammates squirm and wiggle their way into the suit.

As soon as I got in the water I was ready to get the show on the road. I flew through all of the exercises flooding the mask and taking out the breathing piece. Angie and Alana worked with Pastor Jordan and I went off with Ben. I felt like a natural. If reincarnation existed I’m pretty sure I would have been a fish. I loved doing flips and summersaults 50ft under water. You feel like you’re in a different world and your mind is cleared of all the stresses of the world. I feel like I was able to recharge my batteries and felt so mellow and calm the rest of the day. I decided that when I get home I’m going to get scuba certified!!

Just a little note to all of my sponsors: The financial support you have invested in me was not used to pay for this outing.
