Remember my blog post yesterday titled, “3 Hours on a Bus”? At the very end of it I wrote
“Okay God, bring on more busses!”
Well, I didn’t know what I was asking for…
I wrote that blog post about two weeks ago in Ecuador and never got around to posting it, so I opened it up last night and re-read it before posting.
God really does have a sense of humor.
To get from Quito, Ecuador to Lima, Peru we had to take a bus. No, not one bus, 3 busses.
Our first bus took us from Quito to the border of Peru in about 12 hours.
We then stood in line at the border of leaving Ecuador and entering Peru for about 3 hours in the squelching heat.
We then hopped onto a different bus that drove us about 45 minutes into Peru to a town called Tumbes (this is no typical tourist destination- I can assure you).
After sitting on the side of a highway for nearly 5 hours in Tumbes looking for a bus to Lima, we were escorted to a hostel by the tourism police of Peru who had to make sure that we were protected in such a dangerous area.
After staying one night in the hostel, we finally found a bus to Lima, and the next day we hopped onto a bus to Peru that was 25 hours.
I REPEAT. 25 HOURS.
THENNNNN, to top off God’s big plan, yesterday, we had planned to work with a pastor in Callao (a district of Lima) but he was mugged and in the hospital. God then led us to another pastor who works with Compassion International and houses/feeds Compassion children. Lima is experiencing some heavy rainfall and mudslides they aren’t prepared for so we are working to help stabilize their homes from the weather. To get to this ministry it was a 2 hour trip there and a 2 hour trip back on a total of 4 busses.
THAT’S 4 HOURS ON A BUS. Last month it was 3. This month it is 4.
I REPEAT. GOD REALLY DOES HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR.
When you ask God for something, He does listen. He listens, and He is always working! The question is, are you prepared to listen to Him, obey His plans, and learn what He is trying to teach you?
You are magnificently loved,
Sara
