For all of you motion-sick readers out there… I feel you.
Last month we lived in Quito but worked in a small, rural village at 12,000ft above sea level called Pisuli.
We walked to the bus station each morning, got into line, and loaded on a bus headed to the Ofelia Station.
30 minutes later we piled off that bus at the station, got into another line, and packed ourselves like sardines onto another bus that headed to the highest peaks of Pisuli, picking up men, women, and LOTS of children along the way.
About an hour later we squeezed ourselves off of that bus and then continued to embark on a 20-minute hike up the side of a steep, steep mountain until we arrived at our ministry.
I repeat, for all you motion-sick readers out there… I feel you.
I have been cursed with the very harsh reality that pretty much any time I spend in any moving vehicle of transportation makes me nauseous, and we spend 3 hours on a bus every day.
From day one of our ministry I knew this would be a challenge for me. I quickly learned that I needed to depend on prayer and motion-sickness meds to get me through these rides.
There was one day when I experienced some of the worst head spinning, heat inducing, stomach turning motion sickness that I had ever experienced so I decided to close my eyes and beg God for relief from this discomfort.
Then this happened…
That’s it. That’s all you need to know. I asked God for relief and He gave me three little cuties that I got to talk to, laugh with, play with, and capture in memory forever.
He said to me, “I can use you anywhere, anytime, in any circumstances. I know you feel sick, but you CAN love them regardless. You have MY power inside of you.”
Okay God, bring on more bus rides!
You are magnificently loved,
Sara
