Our ministry this month is working at 12,000ft in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Quito, Ecudaor at an afterschool program called Ecuasol. Ecuasol is not a Christian ministry but is staffed with loving locals as well as some French volunteers (pray that we can be a light to them!).

Once we arrive at Ecuasol (after 2 busses and a steep trek up a mountain) we spend about 2 hours sitting around a table eating with children.

For my first few days of this ministry I felt as though we were wasting time just sitting around a table watching these children eat until I realized…

For many, if not most, of these children, this is their only meal of the day.

For many, if not most, of these children, this is the only time someone hugs and kisses them.

For many, if not most, of these children, this is the only time someone plays with them.

For many, if not most, of these children, this is the only time they receive love and affection and attention just for being them.

This ministry gives these children a warm meal and a safe place to be between school and the night and we get to be a small part in loving, playing, and JUST BEING with these children. We do other things with the ministry, but I believe these 2 hours where we sit around tiny tables with tiny chairs is where we will have the most impact and can give the most love.

Please pray that through us these children experience the everlasting, unconditional, fully satisfying love of Christ so that when we leave, their hope does not.

You are MAGNIFICENTLY loved,

Sara
