Two years ago, one of my teammates believed she’d be healed from the pain in her hips and legs. I prayed and watched as her shorter leg grew an inch and was made even with the other.
Last week, following his teaching, Ron asked for someone who needed physical healing to volunteer. I knew the guy who stood up. His name was Rick, a guy from N-Squad with a big heart.
He made his way to the front and sat down. Ron asked Rick what he wanted Jesus to do for him.
“My eyes. I can hardly see without my glasses.”
Ron asked how bad they were, and Rick took his glasses off and looked to the back of the room at the digital clock.
“It just looks like a big red blob to me,” he said.
Ron stood beside him and started to pray, beginning by simply listening for what God desired to do in that moment. After several moments, Ron began to speak. It wasn’t words directed towards physical healing, but directed towards Rick’s heart.
Emotional healing. That was God’s heart for Rick in the moment.
As Ron began to speak into the painful areas of Rick’s childhood, tears came that rocked him. At that moment tears began to well up in the eyes of the hundreds of racers and alumni beholding what was taking place.
Being led by the Holy Spirit, Ron identified and addressed the lies that Rick had heard and believed as a child. Lies that had held him captive for years.
Ron gave us the floor. “Guys, whatever God is laying on your hearts to speak to Rick, go ahead and tell him.”
Racers spoke up. People from different squads shared.
You’re chosen.
You’re accepted.
You’re good enough.
Truth poured out and was spoken over him. And you could see it bringing healing to his heart.
“God cares more for our hearts and emotional healing than physical healing on the outside. He desires wholeness in our lives, and healing in our hearts.” Ron had just spoken those words in his teaching. We were watching and seeing that it was true.
Next, Ron placed his hands on Rick’s eyes. Seeing that the Holy Spirit was moving and had brought emotional healing, Ron began to now ask for physical healing.
He prayed and then removed his hands. Ron asked Rick what time the clock in the back of the room read.
Glasses still off, Rick looked to the back and spoke.
“10:32.”
