Life on the race is so much more than I ever expected. More in a lot of ways: more growth, more laughter, more tears, and more money than I prepared for. As part of the race we are encouraged to take one adventure day a week to learn more about the culture around us. These activities aren’t cheap and are not covered by any money that was raised.
To clarify, the money we raised does go toward food, local and long distance transportation, lodging, supplies, and other necessities to make the race work. The problem is we are usually given around $4 a day for food and there are often times that isnt really enough. And some months, like this month, we find out we need to purchase a whole new wardrobe because ministry requires “dressy” attire.
In no way do I mean to complain. The money I raised goes a long way for a whole year, and covers a lot of expenses – including exorbitant airfare. But my personal cash is running low.
This month, we are partnering with an Albanian church to begin a youth center and start a youth programs. This involves really investing in the youth, building relationships, and discipling them in the hopes that they will come to the center. I am super excited about this opportunity, but this also involves buying them coffee and food out of personal money.

On that note though, life on the race is definitely more expensive than I planned. If you feel led to help cover some of the costs outside of ministry you can always donate here:

Seriously, $20 goes a LONG WAY on the field. $20 could pay for a new outfit for ministry. $20 could cover several meals and coffee with the kids we are trying to connect with. Any amount helps and I would forever be grateful for your continued support!
