Dear family, friends, and strangers reading Sara’s blog,
This blog was not written by Sara, but by the other members of her team. As Team Themelios, we have been with Sara since day one of her World Race journey. We have gotten to see her grow and serve the Lord in India, Nepal, Vietnam, and Cambodia. We wanted to take a moment to share with you how God is moving in and through Sara’s life.
Sarah: I have seen Sara excel in situations that have challenged her. She has chosen to use her voice through her writing, and has written consistently, which I know hasn’t been easy sometimes. With the many discomforts that come with living in third world cultures, she has pushed through and remains joyful in many situations where complaining is such an easy choice. She has chosen to challenge herself in areas that she sees she need growth – like fasting from social media, eating the food presented to you, etc. She has also become a major encourager on the team.
Danielle: Before coming on the race or even to training camp, I was nervous about diving into this new community and finding new safe people to grow with. The first time I prayed through the list of my squad mates, the Lord immediately told me that Sara was a safe person, and it has been so true. She is so knowledgeable about so many things and she uses that knowledge to help others grow. She is such an encourager of people and she has the gentlest touch of anyone I’ve ever met. She simply cares so deeply and loves with the love of Jesus. It has been a beautiful honor to see her bless people around the world by simply being the amazing person God created her to be.
Lindsey: Sara is such a gentle spirit! I have loved getting to watch her grow so much in just four short months. Looking back to our first month together I can hardly believe I am talking about the same girl! Where she used to be quiet and shy, now you will hear her singing cheerfully everywhere she goes. Where she used to be reserved and unsure, she now steps into unknown circumstances with boldness. The girl I am looking at today is stronger, more joyful, more self-aware, and more confident in the woman God created her to be.
Joanna: Sara loves pizza, smoothies, and loving those around her well. Sara has been a pillar of wisdom and consistency for me over the past four months, and she constantly strives to better herself and become more like Jesus. I’ve seen so much growth in Sara over these past 4 months, not only in making conscious changes to be positive and to “just go with it”, but in her ability to love deeply. Despite knowing how quickly we move from place to place, Sara chooses to dig in and invest and be vulnerable and build relationships: that’s what love does! Sara is like a sunshine princess, and I’m so lucky to have spent the first part of my Race with her!
Thank you to each person who has supported Sara on this journey through prayer, encouragement, and donations. Our team would be lacking without Sara’s presence.
Love,
Team Themelios
