S Squad, all 55 of us, enjoyed a nice smooth 6 hour bus ride from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on the 6th of April. The sun set soon after border patrol which was surprisingly pleasant and quick. As much as I love airports and planes, I would take a bus for travel days all the time on the Race if I could.
My team’s site for the next couple weeks is in a village just across a river by ferry outside the capital of Phnom Penh. We can see the skyscrapers from the house. We won’t have much access to wifi, which is perfect because I’m fasting wifi 6 days a week for the next couple weeks anyways.
We’ll be working at a preschool in the morning and helping teach English to youth in the evening at a church. The pastor’s family is the only Christian family in the village.
Prayer Requests:
Please pray for strength for our host family that any persecution doesn’t get them down in their ministry and for boldness to share the Gospel with their neighbors. Pray that God would provide a second preschool teacher to help the current teacher, Toni. And pray for finances for the church that they can continue to pay for the land and complete the pastors vision for the preschool.
The inspiration for this blog title is the Cambodian currency: Riel. My team loves puns and took advantage last month with Vietnam’s favorite dish of pho (See my last blog title for another pun).
This quick update blog comes to you from my iPod touch at a coffee shop called Pheapbol’s BrewHouse at 10:30 am on April 8 in Phnom Penh. We took the ferry over at 8 am this morning to spend our off day in the city.
