“Now is the time” quoted from my loving, beautiful mom 🙂

I’ve have been told this too many times by too many people. You don’t have to tell me twice! Let’s start packing!

Now…obviously there are a lot of other things that need to be done before I go off to see the world and serve in more ways than just one. First of all, you may be wondering what this World Race thing is and why I decided to go. SO to make it plan and simple, I have come up with a couple of common questions I have been asked by those wanting to know about the trip. So here we go!

1. What is the World Race?

It is an 11 month missions program through an organization called Adventures In Missions (A.I.M.). I will be spending a month in each country that I go to for 11 months.

2. What countries will you be going to?

Zimbabwe/Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland, India, Philippines, China, Ukraine, Moldova, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica/Panama

3. What will you be doing there?

It will depend on our contact and what will be needed in each country. Past Racers have gone out to hospitals, orphanages, construction sites, food shelters, etc.

4.  Where will you stay?

Depends. Churches, organizations, in huts, tents….anywhere they can place us.

5. Is this paid or do you get a stipend?

No. I do not receive any kind of money.

6. How much does it cost?

$15,500 in total which includes travel, lodging and food. Before launch, I will need to raise $6,500. I will be able to raise funds while I am overseas and will hopefully have monthly sponsors.

7. How do you plan to raise funds?

I will be planning events, writing letters and making/selling items for this trip as well as other misc. things – still on the planning phase at the moment.

8. How can I donate?

Simple. All you have to do is click on the support me! button on the left and follow instructions.

9. What made you go?

A few things. I have been wanting to live overseas the last 4 years of college, but never got the opportunity to. I love traveling, seeing new places, cultures and peoples. I love serving and believe that my degree in social work will be used in many aspects of this trip. This will also give me insight on whether or not I want to pursue my masters degree in international social work in the future. But most of all, I am going because Christ has called me to pursue a life worth living. I am going because I want to work and live among the forgotten, the abandoned, mistreated, abused, the ill, the widowers, the poor as well as those who have been cast off or the ones who cause fear because of crimes they have committed. I want to refine my spiritual gifts and continue to pursue the Lord whole heatedly without fear. I am excited to live in community and be in prayer continually while diving into the word and getting to know the Lord in many different ways. I know I will return a different person.

I hope that this gave you insight of this program and why I want to go. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to post those below!
