What started as a whisper turned
into a roar. What budded as curiosity
blossomed into a passion. After my third
summer serving as a short-term missionary for my church in St. Augustine, Good
News Presbyterian, I can no longer deny my desire to serve overseas for longer
than just a few short weeks at a time.

11 countries…11 months. The World Race. An inter-denominational Christian missions
program that places young adults in various ministry programs around the world. God placed this heavily on my heart, mind,
soul this past July when I led an adult mission trip to Manipur, India.

I have been blessed with a wonderful life in St.
Augustine. I have lived there the past
six years, achieving a Communication degree from Flagler College, and having
two wonderful ‘Big Girl jobs’ as Director of Public Relations for San Sebastian
and Lakeridge Wineries, and most recently, working full-time for the St.
Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, a wonderful historic site and non-profit.

But….

                   I returned from
India this summer with the same thoughts and feelings as when I came back from
my first mission trips three years a   ago – I am called for more than the ‘9-5′
life. Again, I really have felt blessed
with the job opportunities I have been able to experience, but it just doesn’t
feel right. Each summer I come back, I
feel further away from where I am supposed to be. I am stepping out in faith to pursue my
passion to experience other tribes, nations and tongues, and ultimately to
serve.

July 2010 I embark on my 11-month journey around the
world. This, of course, comes with the
challenge of raising the funds to make this dream a reality. The cost of the trip is $14,300. I have set a goal for myself to raise $15,000
to cover the cost of supplies, and international health insurance. I was (and sometimes still am) overwhelmed by
the hard facts of the trip – but I know I am called with a purpose.

Even if you are
unable to give at this moment, please search your heart and budget and if you
feel led or inspired to contribute to my race, setting aside $10 a month would
benefit me hugely! If you are able to
give, please visit sarahansen.theworldrace.org to view my blog for the
trip. By clicking on the ‘Support Me’
tab, you are able to donate online. All
donations are tax deductible.

If you have any questions, I am looking forward to discussing what details
I do know about my race route, and fundraising with you. Please know whatever you are able to give –
even if it is prayers and support, you are playing a vital role in not only
changing the path of my life, but the lives of many, thousands of miles from
us.

In His Love,
Sara
