Previously, I described in part the family we’ve been ministering with this month.   This time around, I thought I’d just update you on recent developments regarding my “immediate” World Race family, team Lunchbox.

We are still familiarizing ourselves with one another, transitioning from our respective former families to our current one. It hasn’t taken long for me to appreciate and treasure Lindsay, not just as our team leader, but as a sister and friend. This makes it difficult for me – and all of us on the team – say goodbye to her.

On March 5, Brandon will step up as the team leader as we continue onto India, while Lindsay hops on a plane to sunny Los Angeles. She is going home to the U.S. in obedience to our heavenly Father. Allison put it well: God put Lindsay on the fast track of the World Race. Please pray for my brother and sister.

Personnel changes aside, we’re still in getting to know one another, but we want to make like Emeril and kick it up a notch (BAM!). We’ve six months left but will not take four of them to reach the level of closeness as we did in our previous teams. The first part of this Race was like Advanced Placement Community, enough credits to fulfill our general education requirements for our degree in “Kingdom”.

Now, this “semester” is our upper-level practicum, but instead of a 20+ page paper and a presentation, we will be graded on. . . well, simply on how we live together and love each other. We’ve mastered some of the basics the first part of the Race, but now we need to go beyond the basics with other brothers and sisters. I’m learning that I know this in theory, and have had some practice with it.

But sometimes it takes just as much faith – if not more – to grow closer to and love those around you as it does to ask God to do wonders. Don’t get me wrong, I like Lunchbox – a LOT – and I know that I love them, but it takes awhile for what I feel to catch up with what I know. I don’t know what that will look like, that place where I am absolutely mad about Lunchbox, but Paul writes that we live by faith and not by sight (II Corinthians 5:17).

So though I’m not there yet, I will get there one day at a time. So, I heart you all, my new kakas and dadas – Brandon, Dan, Brenda, Christi, Kyla, Lindsay, and Tangi.
