One night after ministry Kelsea and I decided to go up to the house and play Uno with whatever boys wanted to play. We found a group of five who wanted to play and headed for the patio upstairs. One of the boys had set out a comforter for us all to sit on. We got through one game and they lost interest. They instead decided to start a huge tickle fight. I don’t even know how it happened. One of them yelled Uno and the next thing I know Kelsea and I were underneath all of the boys laughing so hard it hurt. Of course because we were laughing they continued. About thirty minutes later, a few other teammates joined us and the boys attacked them giving us a much needed break. I haven’t laughed that hard in so long.
Later that night we celebrated one of the boy’s 18th birthdays. I absolutely adore this guy. He is so precious and has such a genuine spirit about him. His sweet smile lights up an entire room. Tony gave us 30 minutes to get everything together for the surprise. That kid’s face lit up with so much joy and excitement when he saw the effort we had put into his party. It was such a great night. We watched him destroy a piñata and then give the candy to the little kids. After piñata we had a cake and ice cream fight. Next, he opened his presents and tried everything he got on.
This was another one of those “this is right where I belong’” nights. You look around the room and realize how happy everyone around you is. Nothing else in the world matters.
