My 23rd Miracle…
On our first day of
ministry with Nepal Christian Ministries our contact Peter took us to one of
his good friends, Lal’s, house to pray for Lal’s wife Anu. When we walked into
the room and saw Anu lying in bed immobile. She had fallen from the second
floor of a building seven months before and was paralyzed from the middle of
her abdomen to the bottom of her toes. She had broken her spine in two
places and had bolts holding her back together. She could only sit up with a
brace and it was impossible for her to stand. She looked so defeated lying in
her bed with out a smile and face without any hope. Her and Lal were
missionaries, owning a guesthouse up in the mountains until she fell 7 months
ago. Now they have moved closer to Katmandu so she could get the medical
treatment she needs. For the last 7 months Anu has just lyed in bed all day, while
Lal stays by her side taking care of her and their 5-year-old son Samuel. He’s had to learn to cook and clean, not
to mention deal with wiping his wife’s own butt. Now that is love!

That day I prayed harder
then I have ever prayed before. We worshipped and prayed, worshipped and prayed,
cried and laughed and just loved on this beautiful women and mother who was depressed
and hopeless in bed. After a while
of praying and such we asked her to do something she had never done before. She decided to
sit up with out her brace, and she did. You could tell it was painful for her
but she was determined. Lal, her husband cried out that she had never done this
before!! Then she tried to stand up, which she had never done before either. We
prayed some more and she stood with help from others, it was also very painful
for her. After 7 months of lying in bed she has lost the majority of her
muscles and strength. We prayed over
the house and left her to rest with the promise to visit a couple of days
later.
When
we returned Anu was sitting on the floor full of Joy and hope. She looked
transformed. They told us that since we prayed the other day that the weight
and bondage she was under was gone. She has been more active and the feeling
was coming back to her legs. Lal even said that her legs would move
uncontrollably during the night like she was running.

We
returned periodically, once I painted her toes, another time we bought them a
few groceries. Sometimes we would just sit and watch Animal Planet. 🙂 It has
been fun getting to know their family and just having fellowship and prayer
with them each time.
WAIT!!
I
haven’t even told you the best part! Read my next blog to find out!!
