I want more!
After
being in the grind of Africa, you know preaching, door to door, and teaching,
we needed a little spark in our lives. We contacted various organizations
around Uganda and took some time to go visit them. Read on to hear about some
really cool things that are going on in Uganda!
Tukutana
With Ryan’s awesome social skills we got in contact with a lady
named Roxanne she is the founder of an organization called Tukutana in Kampala,
Uganda. Our group spent the day working with her and organizing soaps and
shampoos from around the world that Emirates Airline attendants had picked up and
we were able to give over 200 students some to take home at the school we were
working at. Check out her website at http://www.tukutana.org/!
Also Silas one of the guys on my team wrote an awesome blog about so make sure
and check that out too at http://silascole.theworldrace.org/?filename=tukutana-working-together-with-hope.
Light Gives Heat
Bethany has had a necklace made out of paper that she got back
in the states last year. It was from this organization “Light Gives Heat.
Since we were in Uganda she really wanted to go and visit them in Jinja, so the
girls took a day and checked it out.
We hung out with Amber and Andrea for the day helping them wit quality
control of the necklaces and just getting to know them and the organization. They
are doing awesome things! Checkout the necklaces online at http://hope.lightgivesheat.org/
and go to the SUUBI section to learn more!
Amazima
This was an organization that Chandler found through some of
her mother’s friends. After our day with Light
Gives Heat and before bungee jumping the girls headed to a village outside
of Jinja to see what Amazima was all about. What an amazing program and an
awesome facility. The have built a playground, provide lunch, and worship with
the kids every Saturday and that is just a fraction of what Katie and this
organization are doing. We could only stay a short while but I would of loved
to stay longer and get a bigger picture of the impact they are having. If you want to know more check out their website at http://amazima.org/.
There are so many
awesome things going on throughout the world these days. So many people are
working to make lives better and enhance the quality of life. What are you
passionate about? What are the ways you can impact the world. Whether it is
supporting a child for 25$ a month through Amazima, buying a necklace
for your niece’s birthday from Light Gives Heat, or donating to Tukatnana
so little African babies can be clean, you can get involved and help shine God’s
beautiful light and love to others.
God Bless,
Sandy
