ME: God give me JOY!…. GOD: “Ok Sandy, Here you go!â€

For the last 3 weeks we have been going around to 3 or so bars
on Loi Kroh Rd. in Chang Mai, Thailand. I think it’s safe to say though that
our regular spot was Joy Bar. Every time we would walk by they would wave
frantically and say HI. We would go in and just play pool or talk. They would
get out the coke glasses before we would ask. They knew there was no point in
asking if we wanted alcohol.

Joy Bar was different then all the other bars lining the
streets. It’s like you were walking into an episode of Friends. They lived
together, worked together, and played together. They enjoyed working there. The
girls weren’t out to get the farang (foreigners) and it was just a place you
could have a good time. When they would have a day off they would still get
together, they were family.

 One of my
favorite memories from Joy Bar is Thanksgiving Evening (check out my friends
blog about it)
. We came straight from dinner to the bars. We had been given a free
piece of pie upon leaving and had the leftovers in a bag. We ended the evening
at Joy Bar just hanging out telling them about the crazy Americans who eat a
ridiculous amount of food on the last Thursday in Nov. I decided to share my
left over pumpkin pie with them. It was hilarious (you can watch it on that
blog above) After tasting the Pie one of the Lady boys, Jenny, screams out “I
Like Pie, and gets super excited. It was hilarious and made my Thanksgiving
complete! Not everyone gets the chance to witness the first tasting of pumpkin
pie in a bar in Thailand. Smiles all around that night.

Needless to say I found JOY at Joy Bar this month! Enjoy some
pictures from our last night there!

Good Luck and Thank you Joy Bar! Hopefully see you again!
