A Massage for Ministry
In my last week
in the Philippines I was trying to fit everything in that I wanted to get done.
We were pulled so many directions that I was struggling with the fact that I
hadn’t really been able to invest in one particular area. Not really knowing where to invest I
guess I decided to take full advantage of everything around me.
At the women’s ministry that we were having, Angel Chandler
and I were hanging out and she mentioned that she did massage’s. I was like
well that sounds nice and asked if she would give me one. So we figured out
when and where. I was pretty excited. My backpack had been doing anumber on my
back and I just needed some time to relax. When I told some of my friends back
home they just kind of laughed and said well I’m glad I’m paying for you to get
a massage. I felt guilty but went ahead and did it anyway.
Turns out to be one of the best decisions ever. Wednesday I
got a massage, Thursday I went over and learned how to make a bracelet at her
house, Friday I took pictures of my friends and family to show her and Chandler
and I just sat on the floor of a hut hanging out with a 23 yr old mother whose
husband is working in Manila (not close by), who is really struggling financially,
physically, and mentally with raising a 2 year old very energetic son.
It was such a blessing to have insight into her life and the
simple joy she has in seeing her son smile. Those last three days were blessed
with more smiles laughs and joy then I had experienced so far on this trip.
This one is to you Angel and Nyankey! May God Bless you!
