Hello friends,
My name is Sammi Hise and this is my About Me post! This next year I get the most incredible opportunity to serve eleven countries of people in eleven months. Words cannot describe how excited I am for this opportunity! Here are a couple fun facts so you can get to know me!
This is my crazy cool family. You can find us living in good ole Lucas, TX. I have been with these weirdos for as long as I can remember and I have loved living and learning from them. Sarcasm and family bonding over homemade nachos are the norm among the clan and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. These pictures were from a trip we took to Colorado. I have a new found love for the mountains and the snow.
I worked at Sonic as a carhop one summer and still have the skates. Back then I spilled more drinks than I can imagine, but I am now a pro and its one of my favorite things to do on the weekends with friends.
By the time I start my race I will be a recent graduate of Oklahoma State University! I am currently working towards a degree in political science and sociology and one day hope to work as a Christian Marriage and Family Counselor. I cannot believe that my four years are already coming to a close!
I have the coolest friends that a girl could ask for. I personally think their rock stars and I am continually amazed at their hearts and the lives they lead. I think that laughter is the best medicine and we always have tons of funny stories to tell, ask us about them sometime.
I will always stop if I see a stray animal on the side of the road. My parents and I have had multiple conversations about not bringing them all home, but up to this point they have housed dogs, cats, a sheep, a parakeet, and a duck.
The past two summers I have served at a camp telling 14-16 year old girls about Jesus, and I have loved every moment of it. The campers and the people I get to work with are most certainly the coolest people I have ever met, and the Lord used them to challenge and sharpen me every day. And you have to admit that I got to wear pretty killer costumes as well.
I love being outside. Spending time in nature is one of my favorite ways to connect with the Lord. I am amazed at his creation and cannot wait to see more of it when I go on the race.
One of my favorite things to do at school is play intramurals. The past four years I have played over 15 different sports. Disclaimer: I’m not very good at a lot of them.
I am also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, a sorority at Oklahoma State. The girls that I get to come into contact with daily serve as reminders of the Lord’s love and kindness and I am so thankful for each and everyone of these incredible women.
I am just a girl that loves laughter and seeing people smile. I love spending hours listening to the heart behind people’s stories and loving them through the hard moments. I am constantly up for ice cream runs and going to new places and finding adventure. Most importantly I am beyond thrilled to obediently follow the Lord into this adventure to seek and love the lost. I am pumped for the community that I am going to encounter and the sights and stories that I will get to experience. I cannot wait to run this race, and the coolest part is that this battle has already been won. Stay tuned to hear all about my fundraising experiences and this adventure, and never hesitate to contact me with questions!
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8
