      1. To buy back
      2. To free from captivity by payment

I [Samantha Morgan Griffis] am valued by the King. He sees value and worth in me enough to purchase me and buy me back from the pits of hell by payment of His blood on the cross. My life cost Him His life (Philippians 2:7-8).

  1. Deliverance; rescue

Not only did he deliver me from eternal death, He is rescuing me from daily spiritual warfare. Daily the Enemy plots to steal my life and win me over to his losing team. Daily my savior chooses to fight for me, rescue, and deliver my soul from the traps of the Enemy (Romans 10:9).

  1. Deliverance from sin; salvation

I have been delivered and saved from myself. My flesh, my false self, time and time again made choices that do not reflect my heart and soul. I chose sin, I abandoned my love for the Lord, and I caused Him pain and tears. I have sinned against myself. I have eaten the apple, I have denied Christ, and I placed nails in His hands. Not because of me, but in spite of me, because of his love my Savior chose to deliver me from me for his glory (Romans 5:8). Because of who he his I now have salvation.

  1. Atonement for guilt

As songwriter John Mark McMillan writes, I don’t have time to maintain these regrets or dwell in guilt when I think about the way He loves me (Romans 8:1).

  1. Repurchase, as of something sold.

In all the heavens and earth, He wants me. He pursues me. He was willing to fight, die, and pay for me with more than dollars, silver, or gold, but with his very blood (1 Peter 2:24). I am worth his very own blood. He has purchased me and I am His.
