Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog!

My name is Sami-Jo Wood-Greer. I grew up in the small island chain of the Florida Keys. Daily life there was like a Jimmy Buffett song; a warm island breeze, while eating a cheeseburger in paradise. However, after my freshman year of high school I decided to expand my horizons and attend boarding school at the Asheville School in Asheville, North Carolina. The friendships, teachers, and experiences there helped form and shape me into the person I am today.

It also inspired my passion for travel. Some of my best friends were from abroad and we had a lot of international students. When I traveled to Thailand and China during my summers I was able to visit with my friends in their home countries. Growing up on a small island I never really thought about the world outside of the rock I was standing on, but after having these experiences I wanted to be a citizen of the world not just The United States of America. I am constantly trying to keep up with global affairs and learn about cultures and countries I have not visited yet.

During college I studied abroad in Brazil and Poland. I was also able to visit Togo to take part in a Microfinance internship. My visit to Togo in 2014 helped plant the seed in my heart for the experience I am about to embark on. I have never felt the presence of God’s love more than I did in Togo. The people I had met were filled with his joy and it was the first time in my life I felt I should do mission work. I had thought about it in the past, but I didn’t feel worthy enough to be a missionary. I knew there were more qualified people.

I graduated from Appalachian State in May of 2016 with my Bachelors in Finance. Upon graduating I accepted a job in E-commerce and moved to Charlotte, NC. It was a new experience transitioning from college to the real world and also being further away from family. My Father unfortunately passed away this past August after a four year battle with Leukemia. It broke me and it made me frustrated with God. My family, friends, and Jesus were there for me loving on me and supporting me every minute these past few months. I want to be able to show people God’s love through the World Race. Let them know they never walk alone and Christ is with them every step of the way. No matter how broken you are, no matter what you have done, God will never stop loving you and he will never leave you. “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” – 1 John 1:5

I am humbled and bless God chose me to take on a task like this. That he does believe I am worthy enough to be a missionary. This is about loving all people of the world, spreading the Gospel, creating fellowship, and helping anyone in anyway I can. I want to fully immerse myself in selflessly serving God and the people of the countries I will be visiting.  God has been preparing me for this experience my entire life. Through my travels, trials, and experiences. I am thankful for all that God has given me.
