So I’ve been reading the book “Love Does” by Bob Goff for the last week or so & boy oh boy is this book relevant right now in my life!!!
Bob is constantly talking about how love is a do
thing, whether it’s in relationships, friendships, your work place, or strangers.
This far two points have really stuck out to me.
1. Often times God will present us with opportunities & we ask ourselves “am I the right person for this?” & we question God. But y’all GOD CHOSE YOU!!!!! Don’t question why or how!!!!! He chose me for the World Race because He knows that I will love on every person I meet, that I will be changed & change others, that I will grow & that I am able & capable to do the things these people need & ask of me!!!! He chose me & all my squad mates because we ARE the right people for this!!!! Every time any of us – you, me, him, her anyone – is asked to step out of our comfort zone we have the choice to tell God no way, He has the wrong person or say YES & trust him!! Bob Goff says “each of us gets to decide every time whether lean in or step back” & i decided to step in & take this leap & go on the World Race. I trust this is exactly where I am suppose to be & I am right for whatever is ahead!
2. Bob told a story about getting in a car accident with his Jeep & how afterward the Jeep was never the same; it pulled to the left & wherever he left the Jeep if leaked a puddle of oil. He then compared this to our relationship with Jesus – i’m going to quote exactly what the book says because I could not have said it any better – “I know it sounds goofy, but I want to be like that Jeep. I want to leak from having been hit by Jesus. From having something crazy happen to me, something that flipped my life upside down. I’ve met people like that, people who leak Jesus. Whenever you’re around them, Jesus keeps coming up with words and with actions. I don’t suppose everybody gets hit by Jesus, but those of us who have talk about Him differently. We start steering funny; we start leaking where we stand. And it’s because we got thrown from our lives in a terrific collision.” This really really hit me deep because I have NEVER heard someone refer to spreading the love of God as “leaking” before! Leaking sounds like it would be a bad thing, like when your sink leaks or your shampoo bottle leaks all over your clothes in your suitcase, but Bob talks about leaking being a good thing, a GREAT thing. This was such a reminder for me & inspiration to love others constantly & to LEAK JESUS right where I stand; whether that be at home, work, or in any of the 5 countries I am going to visit!!! I don’t just want to dribble little drops of Jesus I want to full on LEAKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!
Reading the book Love Does before leaving for the race has been something I am so grateful for!!!! God has really prepared me for the life He is calling me to lead & showing me exactly how to do so! This book is so relevant no matter where you are living or what your life looks like. It’s a reminder I sure needed & I can’t wait to see how Jesus uses these stories I’ve read in my own life on & off the race.
I always want to remember love does
