Hey all,
I am currently sitting my bed, wearing a face mask, thinking hard about this new year ahead of me.
It’s day 2 of 2017 and i have caught myself reminiscing on the days I spent in Malaysia July 2016. Boy did that place change me. I keep reminiscing on the worship, the work, the people, the food, and debrief.
The Lord called me to Malaysia to do work in my life while I do work in others lives. How stinking cool is it that I was chosen by our creator to share faith, hope, grace, and love with the people of Kuala Lumpur!!! There is never a day where I am not humbled by God and who He has called me to be in His world.
One person i constantly remember when I think back to Malaysia and debrief especially is a girl, who’s name is unfortunately forgotten amongst the dozens of people I met there. I may not remember her name but I will never forget her face. She was actually a girl from the states. She was living abroad looking for more. She had joined us up on the rooftop a few nights while at debrief to sing worship and praise Jesus with us. She knew people who had been on The World Race and she was considering doing her own race (again, how stinking cool!!!)
I think about her and wonder where she is, if the Lord called her to the race, or where he called her to. When I think of her, I think how amazing it is that The World Race even exists and that God hand picks each person to be apart of it! I feel so blessed to be able to share my love for the Lord with people all over the world!! She sat on the rooftop with us and let her life be changed. She wasn’t a part of E squad or the race, but the race changed her and the race showed her who God is and how He can work in the smallest ways. Being in Malaysia for a month changed my life in a way I would have never imagined. I never imagined calling myself a missionary or being someone who gets to travel the world as the hands and feet of Jesus. God uses The Word Race to change so many lives even the lives of people we least suspect like the girl from the rooftop.
I wish I knew that girls name. I wish I knew where the Lord was going to take her. I wish I could tell her that she made me realize how amazing it is to be apart of something so wonderful. She was just an outsider looking in, and the Lord moved inside of her and gave her a new heart to serve and continue to pursue Him. Its amazing!!!!
I am seriously so excited to go to Peru, Chile, Romania, Ukraine, and India and let the people there know that there is a faithful, caring, strong, consistent, almighty, God who loves them so dearly. I am so excited to devote 9 months of my life to spend strictly with the Lord and a group of people He has also picked to share Him to the world!
The race changed my life one and I’m prepared for the Lord to use it again to continue to shape me and mold me into exactly who He has made and called me to be. I am also so excited to share it all with YOU!!!
Always stay tuned for more!
lots of love, Sami
