hello people at home!
wow.
life has just flown by this past week or so. there is so much to update you all on and not a whole lot of time.
in main news, the Q squad has made it to Nepal. we’re anticipating greatness in this country because it was pretty rough trying to get here.
leaving a lot of details out, my travel day started Friday, April 29th at 2:30am. seven of us hopped on a flight from Hyderabad to Delhi where we were greeted by the rest of the squad who had to spend the night in the airport.
from Delhi we started on our “13 hour” bus ride to the border of Nepal. 37 hours and a bus crash later, we crossed the border and hop onto our new bus for another “4 hours”… 10 hours later we’re stopped because our bus driver doesn’t want to take us all the way to our hostel. we call our contact who agrees to pick us up with yet another bus and bring us the rest of the way. this however turns into quite the scene and somehow (i wasn’t really paying attention) our bags got taken hostage.
eventually, i don’t know how, we arrived (with our bags) at a beautiful hostel in one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever been; Kathmandu, Nepal. we’re stayed here last night and are getting ready to leave with our NEW teams in a few hours for, yet another, “13 hour” bus ride to our contacts.
i don’t really know what to expect…13 hours or 33… but we’re staying in a village on the side of a mountain, in the middle of nowhere. i’m pretty excited, especially about the fact that i just had to buy a blanket because it’s cold here!
big news number two: we had team changes!
this has been bittersweet.
i stepped down from leadership and the beautiful Kelsie Funk of team gozo and team undignified has been called up to lead her own team. (i’m so proud, tear.) i, however, am not on her team. in fact, i’m not on a team with any of the girls that i started the race with.
i’m on team, “the Messengers” named after our fearless leader, Jared Messenger. i don’t have any pictures for you, but we’re a good looking team. I am with fellow former leaders, Laura Finnley and Taylor McKellar and a new friend Gina Beukelman. We’re a small group of five.
i’m definitely excited and have a lot of peace about this new team, but it’s a shift. i have grown very comfortable with my girls…and now, i’m not only without them, but no longer on an all woman team.
but again, i have an enormous amount of peace about all this and am really excited to enter into these last three months and just see what all Papa has in store.
love you all.
