…Malaysia.

hello loves!

It seems like forever since I’ve written. Probably because I’ve only posted once since being in this beautifully diverse nation.  So hello! I’m alive and well and loving this place.

So, what have we been doing this month?  I’m sure you’re dying to know…

This month we’re actually working with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) here in Penang and being stationed primarily in their feeding program called ‘Kawan’ (which means ‘friend’ in Malay).

Kawan runs, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10am until 3pm.  they provide breakfast and lunch, showers and a clean place to rest.  it’s pretty awesome actually.  while we’re there we do a number of different things…my favorite, of course, helping out in the kitchen.

Malaysia calls itself the food capital of the world, with Penang (where we’re staying) being the food capital of Malaysia.  Food has definitely established itself as an important part of this month.  Which works out great for me because I love eating.

Though, of course, not everything is exactly what my formerly ‘vegetarian’ belly would consider edible…

…this soup for example.

Most of my team members didn’t know what we were being served, but this was definitely one time that my belly did me a favor.  Iwas getting sickly just looking at the soup, so I never actually consumed any of it…

digusting.

So, yeah, that’s what we’ve been doing this past week and a half.  It’s been a fun and kind of a quiet month.  No shoveling poop :).  But the Lord has been really tugging on my heart in a few places and I’m pretty sure there are certain things I’m going to walk away from Malaysia with.  (I’m still chewing on most of it, but I’m sure there will be a blog to follow.)

Next week we start a new Malaysian adventure, helping fundraise at a hospital.  Not sure what that entails or what to expect…but i’ll definitely keep you posted.

Oh, and today…we the day off. So, as a team we went to the Botanical Gardens.  Where these little guys lined the streets:

but be careful not to smile at them with your teeth showing… they attack.

ALSO… team gozo had this awful idea to hike up a mountain.  About .2 kilometers in Sarah B and I decided to retreat and find a ride up the mountain…

At first i felt kind of like a bum, but it ended up being really cool.  We hitched a ride up with these five Malaysian mountain bikers, one being the Malaysian Mountain Biking Champion.  So that was pretty neat.  I made them give us autographs and we’re going to be facebook friends.  🙂

fun day

ok

i love you all

leave me comments…they seriously make my day.
