So, you all know that i’ve been working for the past week or so in a Dump Site with this awesome ministry and just falling in love with the people…but what is it exactly that we’ve been doing??
Good question.
well, i am not sure that i can give you words. but this video may give you a little bit of an idea…
basically, all of the Philippines, Hong Kong and Korea ship their trash to this Dump Site where these people live. The conditions are awful, and the streets are full of, the Lord knows what. How can we help this community? By cleaning up their streets. By doing the work that they don’t even want to do. It’s absolutely disgusting and absolutely humbling…and absolutely challenging, but we are being His hand and feet.
The Lord reminded me on the first day that we were doing work like this that, we had been praying against the poverty spirit. Then He showed me, that we are the answer to our own prayers. As we are working, cleaning this place up, doing jobs that not even the locals want to do…we are bringing in value. They are seeing these 12 Americans and 2 Swiss people shovel up this ick, smiling and singing and the walls of poverty are being broken.
So despite it all…it’s been pretty incredible. And the locals have totally started working wih us!
Hope you enjoy the video…it kind of gives you an idea, but you can’t get the smell or the heat…or the vastness of the garabage, but yea!
