I’ve been away from home for about a week now and half of the time was spent in Atlanta where we did some last minute training things and the other half has been spent here in Honduras. The ministry we’re working with is so wonderful. Roger and Cory run a bilingual, Christian school for like 5% of the cost of what most other schools in the area charge. Everyone here is so friendly and servant-hearted, it’s impossible to not feel grateful.

We are living the dream, y’all. They have beds set up for us here on the school grounds where we’re staying, Roxanna cooks all our meals (she is SO incredible), we have a shower, and we have toilets! I think the Lord is making month one a little easier to ease us in to the World Race lifestyle. We only had a 3 and a half hour plane ride and about a 45 minute drive to get here. I definitely cannot complain.

So what will I be doing this month? My wonderful teammate Heather and I will be teaching 4 & 5 year olds all the things. Rather than teaching them just English like we initially thought, we will be teachers for every subject from phonics and math to Bible and music. I think those two years of working in the church nursery with this age group will definitely come in handy. I’m excited to begin teaching Monday!

Want to hear a cool story? My team and I want to be more intentional about learning and memorizing scripture so I was reading in Ephesians (9:17-18 if you want to look it up) and found a verse that I wanted to work on memorizing this week. After closing my Bible to grab my journal to write it out, I opened up my Bible and it opened to Proverbs.

For the Lord give wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 2:6

That seemed like a really cool verse and so applicable to our ministry this month. I decided I would pray that over myself and the kids. We could all use some wisdom and understanding when it comes to learning anything. So I prayed.

When Roger was walking us through the classrooms, guess what we saw over the white board? Yup. Proverbs 2:6

Apparently, Roger felt like that was the scripture the Lord had for him over this school. WHAT. The scripture I just randomly came across was the one for the school? Seriously only God.

I’m excited to see what’s in store for the month. Keep our team and squad in prayer as we start out this next month!

With lots of love,

Sam
