If you don’t know why you’re doing something, you’ll be more inclined to give up. You need to have a reason strong enough to push through anything that comes your way because there will be obstacles. Those obstacles will test you, but they’re there to see if you want it bad enough. If it’s really important to you, you will fight for it no matter what it takes.

I want to go on the World Race. I’ve wanted to go for about three years now, but I didn’t really know why so when the opportunity finally came up I knew I’d have to explore my reasons for going.
So… why am I going?
For the woman trapped in slavery.
For the teenager that was raped and needs to know that she’s worth more.
For the mother who struggles to raise her kids and needs hope.
For the man who is so empty inside, he feels the need to buy a woman for the night.
For the kid who hasn’t had food in days and hasn’t known love for longer.
For the pastor who is at the end of his rope and needs help.
For the building that will raise up the next generation of Jesus followers.
For the child that needs to see they are worth fighting for everyday.
For the woman in desperate need of healing.
For the person just like me.
I may not know their names and I may not know their stories, but I will. I will be there, side-by-side, living life with them and doing all I can to pour out God’s love and grace.
The World Race will cost a lot more than just money. It will cost me myself. I will leave comfort and everything I’ve known. I will be tested in ways that I won’t even have imagined. I will be stretched to my limits. I will be poured out time and time again. I’m sure there will be days where I’ll want to give up…
But the reward. The reward is so much greater. It’s for those people. Their lives are dependent upon my actions and I can’t let obstacles deter me from this race. Not just the World Race, but this race of faith. The day-to-day mission to share the Gospel. So when the going gets tough, I will hold onto those reasons because it is for Christ that I have been set free and will testify to the good news of God’s grace.
