One of the hardest parts about choosing to follow God’s call in my life is surrendering complete power to Him and realizing that I can’t do everything on my own. This is one of my biggest challenges in life, because I want to stay organized, be on time, and have control over everything that happens. One big part of going on the World Race is raising $15,500 and then finding another couple thousand dollars to buy supplies/gear. Raising the money to take part in the World Race requires me to surrender my control, trust Him, and know that if He called me to this adventure then He will provide for it.
I was reading through the gospel of Mark yesterday and read the story where Jesus feeds the 5000 with only 2 loaves of bread and 5 fish. Then it dawned on me that I am like the disciples with little to work with and a lot of people to feed. My bank account is low and my fundraising goal is high, but with faith in Him all things are possible. He is going to feed my $15,500 goal and is going to work in the hearts of donors to take my low account and fill it donations and prayers.
“Be still and know that I am God.” –Psalm 46:10
I am blessed to be given the opportunity to take part in this adventure and serve the least of these. Every day I imagine a different part of the race, whether it be walking down red mud roads of Uganda or holding an orphan in Cambodia. I can’t wait for September, but I must step back every day and realize that my role in the states is not yet complete. I must still raise the money necessary to go on the race and continue my ministry here, as I share my testimony and prepare for my journey overseas.
My individual journey as a believer has already begun and each day brings about a newfound joy in my Father. I pray that some of you would be led to become a ministry supporter of mine and choose to support me in the journey.
