Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? ”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Dear friends, family and loved ones,
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. I was nervous to leave my comfortable home and venture into a place I knew nothing about, where I did not speak the language. But somehow I fell in love. God’s presence was overwhelming in the small, dirty, overcrowded areas where I played and worshiped and ultimately experienced and extended love. I felt complete and content. When I returned to school I knew that there was something missing. I finally came to a point late second semester when I had to acknowledge that the uncomfortable anticipation for the next school year, which felt painful and empty to me, was truly the prodding of the Lord to explore different opportunities.
I have discovered an amazing opportunity to spend a year loving people around the world as a missionary with Adventures in Missions (AIM) through their World Race program. While on the Race I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, work with individuals who have been affected by human trafficking, plant churches, work in orphanages, and most importantly, share God’s love. This experience is thrilling to me, but at the same time devastatingly frightening. I will be stepping completely out of my comfort zone in order to be a liaison for the Lord between Christians in 11 different countries and cultures.
The World Race will give me the opportunity to gain hands on experience with people and areas of the world where few have reached. It also gives me the chance to cultivate a heart that is open and receptive to God’s leading. I am so thrilled to learn more about where my passions and strengths come together and play a part in bringing forth the Kingdom. This goes completely against that plans that I had for myself, but I know that God is a better planner than I am and that this experience will be 100 times better than anything I could have chosen for myself!
My trip will be going to Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Philippines, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. There is so much for me to do in preparation before I leave in September. Like a typical missionary, I have to raise support to cover this time spent overseas. The amount that I have to raise is great, but I am confident that my God is greater! As I step out in faith, I would ask you to consider partnering with me in this adventure through prayer and/or financial support. The total cost of the Race is $15,500 which provides for me throughout the 11 months. It includes air, sea, and land travel, administrative costs, training, setup, coaching, personal necessities, meals, and lodging. Any gift is a major blessing and I only ask that you seek what the Lord would have you to do. If your faithful prayers during this time are what you can commit to, perfect! I will be needing them! If you feel that God is calling you to give financially to this ministry, awesome! If this letter was just to stir your heart to action for some other outlet of God’s mercy, even better. Enclosed is a form that tells you about the ways you can help. Also, check out sagewimmer.theworldrace.org to learn more about my fundraising process and eventually the trip itself to see what God is doing.
Thank you so much for you support!
