Fun Facts and World Race terms:

World Racer or Racers: Participants on the World Race who are going out to love on the unloved and to let people know that they matter and that there is life-giving power in the name of Jesus!
Squad (Such as Y, Z, A, B, and C who are leaving in January) – A large team of racers who will have the same route, so they will be going to the same countries, and will be doing ministry in close community with each other throughout all of 2014. ***Y-squad!***
Teams – Smaller groups of racers within each squad. The squads must be broken into smaller teams so that, I believe, ministry will be most effective and so that they will fit at each ministry location…there has to be room for everyone to sleep/live…idealy…. ****Team Fire Starters!!!****
**Squads as a whole will be traveling together between countries but will break apart into teams once in each new country according to the amount of people necessary for each ministry opportunity…in an ideal world.***
Launch (Noun) – A couple of days of training plus the day racers will actually leave the country to begin their journeys. **Second generation Y and Z squads, plus third generation A,B, and C squads will have launch from January 6th (Jan. 5th for leaders) through January 9th and will leave the country on Jan. 9th.
-In order to attend launch in January, Racers only need to be around 50% funded. They will continue to have deadlines to meet while in the field which means fundraising will continue even after we leave in January. If Racers do not meet the deadlines, they could be sent home early.
In/on the field – I’m not sure where this started, I’m not even sure if this is widely used but it refers to the 11 months that racers will be actively participating in the World Race. I suppose it could also be used in the past tense such as “When we were in the field….” or referring to the future such as, “When we’re in the field…”
-Y-Squad this coming year will be the first team to go on an all Spanish/Portuguese route. Wooo!
-The first country Y-squad will be going to is Puerto Rico. Bring on the Vitamin D.![]()
