Merry Christmas from Thailand!
I have been blessed with the best Christmas gift ever!
I am fully funded!!!!
Thank you to everyone who has made this trip possible. You are helping me spread the Kingdom to the ends of the Earth. So thank you.
I'm now in Thailand working with 14 other World Race girls at S.H.E. Ministries in Phuket. The main purpose of this ministry is working with women and girls who are trapped in the sex industry. SHE gives them training so they can get better jobs and most importantly gives them hope by telling them about Jesus.
Most girls working in the bars can't get a job anywhere else, but they need to support their families so their lives are like a living hell.
Over 90% of Thailand is Buddhist and people believe they are doomed to live with the life they've got because of how they lived in previous lives.
They need Jesus' love to heal their hearts and give them a hope and a future.
When my team went down to the red light district for the first time the other day it was such a heavy and dark spiritual atmosphere. Even though it was a bright afternoon, it felt as dark as midnight. So we walked up and down the street and prayed and asked God to bring His Kingdom light to this dark place.
And that evening we went back to actually go into the bars and talk to some of the girls and hopefully cultivate some friendships with them.
We don't walk around handing out tracts or preaching on the street, we just go into a bar in groups of three, order a soda, and hang out and chat with the girls working there.
Our prayer walk from earlier deffinately made a difference in the atmosphere because despite the fact that it was now nighttime with the neon lights flashing and people walking around in strange get-ups, my soul felt light and free. I was just syched to get to go in there and storm the gates of Hell with the intent of rescuing the captives! And our weapon of choice: LOVE.
When we talk to a young woman who is only thought of as something to buy, and we actually treat her as a person and love on her, then she is more likely to believe us when we tell her that God is love.
She might listen when we offer her another way to live.
She might have the courage to trust us and let us take her to S.H.E. where she can get training in baking or cooking or jewelry making or English lessons.
So that is the gist of what we're doing this month.
Please join us as we pray for these girls to be open to hearing what we have to offer. Pray that we can have opportunities to share God's love and light in the darkest of places.
Please pray for the men who go to the red light district. They need Jesus just as much as any of us do. God's been teaching me that these men don't need my condemnation. They need my prayers and they need God to show them real love and real, healthy relationships instead of the empty promises they keep chasing.
These are the things that fill my mind this Christmas season. I think I have a better picture of why Christ came.
So let us rejoice and be glad that God so loved the world that He sent His only son to give us eternal LIFE. And lets thank God that He didn't send His son to condem the world, but to save it!
