There is a story about a Roman centurion who had a slave that was very dear to him. When this slave became very sick, the centurion went to Jesus.
He told Jesus "My lord, do not take the trouble of coming to my house. For I'm not worthy. But say the word and my servant will be healed."
Then the centurion explained how he was under authority, and he understood it and that Jesus had great authority even to command sickness to leave.
Here it gets interesting: Luke says when Jesus heard this, he MARVELED at the centurion, and said "I have not found such great faith anywhere else in Israil."
This Roman had stumbled upon something very important that the Jews didn't understand.
This story has all kinds of interesting implications so if you want to study it for yourself it's in Luke 7
The Roman Empire had a lot of power in that day. But the only way a single soldier could have authority was if he was acting on behalf of his superiors. If he did that, than he was unstoppable. Any ordinary person would have to do what he said or else answer to the Empire.
But if a soldier went against the Empire, acting only on his own interests, then he is only one man.
All this to say, if I was going on this trip just for myself, I would probably be too scared to go.
But I'm not going just for myself. I am being sent by a ruler more powerful than Ceasar. And He is not only sending me, He is coming with me and He loves me.
If a Roman soldier could walk with confidence knowing he was backed by the biggest world power of his time, then I should be able to that much more since I am being backed by a Kingdom bigger than this world.
Of course, it's not about me. I'm just excited I get to be a part of this intricate and wonderful plan.
And I launch in 7 days!!
My fundraiser went really well, and now I have over $7,000 in my account with more coming in. That means I'm over half way there!!!
I would love to be fully funded before launch. Just 12 people pledging to give $50 a month and I would be there. Or you can give a one time donation.
