Our ministry contact was telling us her story the other night and how she got where she is now- running this children’s home we are staying at here in Nicaragua. If you heard her story and how much she had to give up to come here, you would see that this decision had to be made on faith.
After she was done sharing with us, she asked us if we had heard the verse in the bible about having faith as small as a mustard seed. We all said of course we have. Then she asked if we had ever held a real mustard seed. Some of us said yes and some of us said no. Year after year things happen that try and crush her faith and make the work they are doing here at Cicrin harder. Time after time she stands on this truth and His promise in this verse. And here she is 28+ years later still running and amazing ministry that God continues to bless every year.
When she was done sharing, she gave us each one so that we could put it in our bible and be reminded of this truth every time we open it up.
So this gets me to a question. Where is your faith today? Have you lost faith?Do you feel like you are in a dark and lonely place? Are you going through some of the hardest times of your life? Are you trapped in addictions you think will never be broken? Are you or one of your loved ones battling an illness that you think will never be healed?
Let me encourage you with this. God knows exactly what you are going through. He is with you. He loves you. He is passionately pursuing you. He is fighting for you. He will never leave nor forsake you. He has already won the battle that you are trying to fight on your own. He just wants you to have faith.
The bible says :
Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. (another translation says “Because you’re not yet taking God seriously) Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
Look at the picture!! Do you see how small a mustard seed is?? That is all the faith you have to have to tell every single mountain in your life to move. Every single lie that the enemy is speaking over your life – you aren’t and will never be good enough, you will never be beautiful enough, you will never make it through this etc.). Tell it to MOVE!!
God is asking us to have faith. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; and the assurance of things we do not see.
Have you have completely lost faith? If so, this might be why nothing is changing. We aren’t supposed to have some giant faith and be some type of perfect person.
He isn’t asking us to fight alone and to have faith the size of a mountain. He wants us to have faith as small as a mustard seed. That’s all.
His promises are always true.
