I can’t even remember which night it was exactly, maybe Saturday, but it was probably the best night I’ve had since being out on The World Race.
We made it into a guys/girls night. The girls went out to see
Little Miss Sunshine at the movie theater and then go out to eat and coffee. Us guys didn’t really know what we were going to do. The day before we noticed a place that offered an all-you-can-eat BBQ for Q50. (50 Quetzales is not even 7 bucks) so we figured we’d probably do that. But we had an hour to kill, so we just walked around town for a while. We saw that they were setting up for some kind of band, next to the central park.
We went to the BBQ (it actually wasn’t much BBQ at all), at a place called, ‘Jungle Party.’ The coolest thing about the meal itself was that everyone sat at one big community table. We sat across from two med students from U of M, and a Belgian guy.
Over the course of the meal we heard some of their stories and what it is they are doing with their lives right now. We also were able to share with them about The World Race. We told them about all kinds of stuff. The Belgian, Chimmi, was really intrigued and interested in the miraculous and spiritual warfare parts of the trip. We also told him about Heidi Baker in Mozambique and some of the miracles that have happened there.
We walked away from that meal and conversation on a Godly high. We felt great and felt alive…like we were finally doing what we were meant to do: show Jesus to people. Not that we haven’t done that before…but it just felt extremely right and good this time.
After that we headed back to the park to try and catch some of whatever concert it was. Turns out it was the Guatemalan Army Symphony Band, playing right in front of the big cathedral. Hearing them play in itself was really cool. As the concert went on…they busted out the
1812 Overture (I’m pretty sure that’s the title for it) and shot up tons of fireworks right there! It was spectacular.

We headed back after that, caught up with the girls and heard about their night. Then we watched the movie
Invincible on Clinton’s computer. (It’s the movie with Mark Wahlberg as Vince Papale, the guy in the 70s that played for the Philadelphia Eagles after attending a rare open tryout)
So yeah, that was a good night.
I am getting my new camera lens on march 11 from seth, so i will finally be able to take some pictures again. it’s sucked just having my big daddy lens and nothing smaller. and it’s crazy how much it limits me photographically.
