Launch

Hey everyone i know this was months ago but like i said i’ve not been at a place where i felt it to be beneficial to share until now. that being said here is what happened up to and during launch.

so launch is the first official thing that happens on the race. If training camp was based around building community launch is a mad rush of info on how to be an effective missionary. It is 4 day of non-stop sessions at a hotel next to the airport. family members are invited but have there own hotel and sessions minus 1 combined session and a quick lunch to say goodbye.

My plan was to spend the last 2 days before relaxing and spending time with family. then life happened and plans went out the window. I was still trying to get all the malaria meds i needed as well as tax forms and finishing up things with the bank. all three of these took way longer than expected.

I Ended up on the last day and still a lot to do. I started with the bank. I had tried many options for getting a card that would work overseas and none could get a card to me before i left. so when i got to the bank i found out that a credit card that had previously been declined was approved and on its way. even more with the lowest international charges mind you this is a local bank. Wow God is good!

still i had more to do and so little time. next I had to go get tax records and when I requested them miraculously all the company’s computers crashed. A 5min visit turned into a 45min time waster. so i prayed the lord’s prayer over the situation and immediately the computers began working just long enough to get my records then crashed again. Wow God is good!

during all of this I had been on several calls with the doctor, insurance, and pharmacy trying to get malaria meds filled. repeatedly i was told there was no way to get that many pills before i left in the morning. so finally that night I went with my mom to the pharmacy.  Although we were told it would take at least 1 more day, the pharmacist shocked us by taking back the 90 pills of malarone already filled and lie to the insurance company saying that 210 pills was a 90 day supply. we walked out with 210 pills worth just over a thousand dollars and insurance paid for it all. Wow God is good!

God showed up and got things done, but there was still no time to spend with my family. the car ride to Atlanta was bittersweet. I was following in His calling but was about to say goodbye for a year. You see I have absolutely no doubt that God loves me personally and passionately and he provides all that i need. that’s why when I learned there was a miscommunication and I didn’t need to be there until the next day that this was all apart of His plan to cover me in love. we instead of saying good bye spent the night making beautiful memories.

If one thing is evident it’s that He Loves us unconditionally and more intimately that we can comprehend. such love cannot be contained. “freely you have been given so freely you should give”
