As many of you know, God willing, I’ll be going on a 9 month Christian missions trip coming up. I’ll be going to three different countries: Guatemala, Malaysia, and Botswana. However.
The time isn’t then to start continually growing passionately and radically for God. It doesn’t start in just a few more months when I leave… It’s already started. It’s already in progress. And those that will be following up on updates throughout my trip, it doesn’t start when I leave the country for you either. It’s hopefully already started for you as well. And if it hasn’t, I pray that it starts right now.
Going overseas to do missions is one way of God using His disciples to proclaim the Good News. It’s one way of showing the love of Christ to those half way across the world. It’s one way of furthering God’s Kingdom. It’s one way of fulfilling the Great Commission. And I believe, it is one way of being obedient to what God is calling for all of us. This may seem radical to some, but believe me, it’s not even close. I’m just being obedient to what Jesus has commanded. And I’m longing to be obedient because of the supernatural transformation that He’s done in my heart. He is making His desires, my desires.
Here’s the thing.
As followers of Christ, with the love of Christ just burning inside of us, we GO! We aren’t stationary, we’re mobile! (This includes every person that claims to be a Christian). We are a part of God’s Church that is heading forward full steam ahead! This Church is meant to be UNSTOPPABLE!! We have a God that died and then defeated death itself three days later! He’s conquered it all! And that same God is living inside of all those who surrender everything and follow Him! This Church of His was designed to be an UNSTOPPABLE FORCE! And it is only by the love and grace and power of God that it happens. It’s not by us… It’s by HIM. And as we grow closer and closer and closer to God, we begin to look more and more like him. We start to burn for the things He burns for! We start to long to love those that are hurting. We only have a desire that is for Him and His glory! We live for God and only God. I mean, cmon. We were all created to walk with Him ever since creation. We were created in the image of God, and with that, we were created to KNOW HIM!
And this leads me to my main point.
LOOK AROUND YOU!!! OPEN YOUR EYES!!! WAKE UP!!!
Are we blind? Or are we just too selfish and lazy to realize and do anything? How can we just sit back and go to church on Sundays, to worship this God, and hear a sermon to be fed, and feel sorry for those that are hurting? Sure. Maybe we pray for them occasionally. Maybe we donate here and there. Maybe we sometimes personally get involved… But is the LOVE OF CHRIST BURNING INSIDE OF US!? Is that what’s compelling us?….. Look around.
Abortion. Sexual immorality. Homelessness. Orphans. Widows. Human Trafficking. Sex Slavery. Unreached peoples. The sick. The hurt….
Over 115,000 babies are aborted!!. EVERY. DAY.
How many people are cheating on their spouse? How many people are pursuing homosexuality? How many people are looking at porn? How many strip clubs are there?
Millions of homeless people. Just in America.
Hundreds of thousands of orphans and widows. Kids who think they’re not loved, not knowing about the one true Father.
Millions of people being forced to do cruel and unjust labor making literally nothing.
A MULTIBILLION dollar “business” with selling women to sex craved men. Little girls as young as 6 years old being raped… EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Billions of people that have never even heard the name of JESUS CHRIST! They don’t even know His name! Billions of people without a clue of the hope and power in the name of Christ!
As I’m typing this… I’m screaming inside… I’m weeping… I’m confused… And I also recognize I really need to repent…
Do we believe in this God.. Do we believe in the power of our resurrected Savior? Do we KNOW Jesus… Not know about who He is.. But. Do we actually know HIM?…
I believe a lot of us do. I also believe some of us think we do, but don’t. I also believe that by living in this American culture, it’s so easy to go with the flow. It’s so easy to get caught up in our own busy lives. It’s easy to even start focusing on things that “matter”. But if our focus isn’t completely on Christ, we’ll miss the whole point. We don’t just focus on abortion or sex slavery or orphans. We have got to focus on God, and He will lead us to these things. He will lead us to change and grow in crazy, wild, passionate, radical ways! And I mean, who doesn’t want that? Who doesn’t want the love of Christ flowing through their veins!
As a fellow brother in Christ, that is longing for change in this world, that is longing for those who believe in Christ to rise up, that is longing for His love to spread throughout every nation, I can only pray that we can come together and draw near to God. For each and every single one of us to grow closer and closer to God. To desire your own individual hearts to radically and intimately be changed and transformed to look more like His.
I just don’t see how we can KNOW this God, yet not look any different than the world around us. I actually believe that to be impossible. You can’t KNOW him, and not be changed. But I pray, we will all find time to just sit. Just sit alone. With him… To draw near to him in ways we’ve never done before. To allow His presence to just completely captivate and overwhelm us!
It starts right now! Today. And everyday. Let’s grow closer to him and keep our focus on the one thing that our eyes need to be fixated on!
Oh by God’s grace, let us be changed! Let us grow closer to you! Let us Know you in ways we’ve never known you before! Oh God, let us look more and more like you! I want a heart like Christ! God, here I am… Let your will be done.
